Furled, our wings balance nicely against the back. Joints collapse neatly, and wing tips point down. Feathers and folds will settle nicely together, drawn down by gravity into their natural folded positioning. See more of how this is accomplished below.
Unfurled, Our wings stretch out to their full extension, as requested by the client. These are 56” from wingtip to wingtip, with a depth of 15”. with a single manual motion, each bone (shown below) finds it’s exact right place, and simultaneously positions the thin ribs, or feather quills, at the precise angles to complete the wing shape. These wings have three ribs, but as you will see below there is room for many more, especially if your journey calls for glorious feather wings.
Our wings are strong and sturdy, fit for adventure. We wanted them to last through whatever’s thrown at you, without losing the option of repair. We designed them after the natural movements of birds and bats, not hinges, so they open smoothly, the tip gracefully extending as the feathers and folds unfurl. The geometric positions are tried and tested ratio that can be sized for individual clients’ purposes, and the bones of aluminum and specially manipulated PVC allows them to hold up to running or dancing, while still being light enough to wear all day.
We at The Adventurer’s Emporium want you to be able to trust us to make a good product that meets your expectations. Here you can see how our ribs and feathers hit their mark every time, extending and stretching the base of the wing into it’s full dramatic spread. The quills are positioned and fixed at precise angles on a line stretched taut between shoulder and wingtip. When the wing is furled, the line relaxes, loosing the quills into gravity’s natural resting place. Many more quills can be affixed to the line for fluffy feathers, or just a few to tent out some scaley folds. In both cases, the quills are drawn into guiding eyelets by the taut line, stretching out into their correct individual angles every time.
